• Also Starring: Minnie Mouse, Dippy Dawg (AKA Goofy), Clarabelle

We are in a kingdom back in the medieval days. The Minstrel comes to town on his donkey. The king is sitting in the Great Hall on his throne, waiting for the wedding ceremony between his daughter and the Prince. The Princess is not wanting anything to do with this wedding or the marriage. The king, after a confrontation, locks the Princess and her maid in the tower. Minstrel comes along on his donkey, and stops under a tree. He climes to the top of the tree and begins to play his guitar and starts to sing. He then sees the Princess and her maid, climbs to the end of the branch he is sitting on, and jumps into the window and makes it in.

The King begins the reception feast. Everyone partakes and eats merrily. Minstrel and Princess escapes out of the tower, having constructed a rope made of cloth. The King catches them, and dispatches guards. Ministerial is headed to the guillotine to be beheaded. Princess declares her love for the Ministerial and suggests that the Prince be beheaded. A duel is called for. They suit up. Minstrel is winning. The Prince jumps out the window, onto the guillotine and is beheaded. The Minstrel and Princess are wed.

Now see, this is why there should be no arranged marriages. You cannot help who you fall in love with. I know it’s not ideal for royalty, but you just gotta let life live out.

  • Also Starring: Minnie Mouse, Pluto, and Pete

We find Mickey working at a construction site. We are seeing him working the backhoe. Minnie is driving her Lunch Car box, hitched up to Pluto. She is just doing her thing, passing out lunches to all the guys on the crew. Dirt from the backhoe gets up to where Pete is at, and gets all over him and his blueprints. Guess who’s not happy. As Mickey watches Minnie passing out the lunches, he is just smitten and in love, and he drops some bricks and wagon and they go through Pete’s blueprint. Whistle blows to announce the official start to lunch. Mickey sits down and takes out the contents of his lunchbox. Pete sees this and decides that he needs to throw down a bag of cement and it ruins Mickey’s lunch! So Minnie goes over to Mickey with a boxed lunch from her truck. Pete spies this and hoists Minnie up to where he is at, so that he can have his way with her. Can we say jealous much?? Mickey goes to where they are at, to try and save Minnie, and Pete takes him by the throat and starts shaking and choking him. Minnie puts some hot coals down the back of his drawers. chase ensues. They get into Minnie’s Cart and take off. Of course, Pete is angry that he is once again, outsmarted.

  • Also Starring: Pete, Minnie Mouse

All the competing athletes gather out on the field to begin the games. The marching band is playing while they are getting ready for competition.

We have boxing, diving, wrestling, track events, and more performance from the marching band. Mickey is in the training quarters getting a rub down before he starts competing. He is lovingly admiring the flowers and note he has received from Minnie. When he gets out on the field, he finds Minnie, and starts his flirting. Pete sees this and decides he wants to flirt with Minnie, in my humble opinion, because Mickey is, and he knows this will make him jealous. And wouldn’t you know it, it does indeed make Mickey jealous.

Moving on to the events. Pete in first, Mickey dead last. Mickey catches up. Mick does not make the high jump and is last to get into his boat. Pete does his darndest to cheat and gets all the other athletes to go in a different direction then what the course is designed as. Mickey does catch up to Pete back on the field. Pete decides to spit his gum at Mickey’s bike tire to ruin his tire and an attempt to injure him. But our boy Mickey pulls off the win and celebrates with Minnie and the crowd in the winner’s circle. You didn’t really think Pete would win, did you????

  • Mickey is giving a concert, playing the violin. This is the only “Mickey Mouse Short” where it is just himself. I just absolutly love all of those facial expressions that he is giving off during his performances. He could also put any professional band to shame with how many bows he took before he came back on stage. Oh, and lest we love the fact that he busts out The William Tell Overture for his encore. Man, did I want to go to the races when he busted that tune out!!!

  • Starring Mickey and Minnie Mouse

We see this one opening up with TomCat swigging some good stuff while he is locking up his house.

Mickey goes up to the door after Tom leaves, and unlocks the door and enters the house with some friends and is playing instraments and dancing. Mickey and Minnie are playing the piano while the others are either playing intraments or dancing. Pretty much ends with Mickey and Minnie slow dancing and an extreme close up of Minnie’s ass as it fades to black.

*Clearly Mickey has learned to dance better since The Barn Dance.*

  • Starring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Pete

Mickey is on his way to Minnie’s house in his horse and buggy to pick her up to go to a barn dance. Pete shows up behind Mickey in a car. Minnie gets into the car with Pete. The car completely breaks, so Minnie gets into the buggy with Mickey and off they go. At the dance, we see that Mickey is not a very good dancer, as he is completely stepping all over Minnie’s feet, which is annoying her. She then switches over to Pete as a partner. Mickey is becoming jealous. We then see Mickey putting balloons down the back of his shorts so that he appears light on his feet. Once Minnie catches onto what Mickey has done, she goes back to dancing with Pete again.

Damn Minnie, just be patient with our boy Mickey, and help a boy out!!! Nobody starts out as a good dancer! And you going back and forth between Mickey and Pete as dance partners for the whole town to see??? In the words of Aretha Franklin, who’s zoomin who???

  • Starring Mickey, Minnie, and Pete

Mickey is working on a livestock steamboat, with Pete as Captain. Boat stops at a dock and Mickey loads some livestock onto the boat. After it takes off down the river, Minnie comes running down, following the boat. Mickey eventually gets her onto the boat

A goat swallows a phonograph, Minnie cranks his tale, and Mickey and Minnie start dancing to and playing different instruments to Turkey in the Straw. Pete gets annoyed with all the music and dancing around and throws Mickey into the bottom of the boat to peel potatoes.

This was the world’s introduction to Mickey and Minnie Mouse. It debuted on November 18, 1928 and was animated by Walt Disney himself. It’s only 7 minutes, but its a jam packed 7 minutes. From the way Mickey annoys Pete, to Mickey and Minnie dancing around and Mickey being a one man band, there is just something to be said for the simplicity of it all. And also knowing this was what the start of Walt Disney Animation. It is also the first film to feature Mickey Mouse, and have sound, which made silent animation become a non-existent thing. Again, this little 7 minute film launched what would become an epic empire.
